Hiking Time Period

June: as the mountains enter spring, there are fewer hikers on the trail and more wildlife; snowshoeing above the snow line may be possible;


July and August: the road is relatively good, the weather starts to stabilize and there are more trekkers. July is the flowering season, local guides will be equipped with plants and other explanations; August is the height of summer, some of the mountain wild fruits are ripe;


September: pleasant weather, trees entering the fall landscape, golden-red mountains perfect for photographers.

In order to improve your Icelandic hiking experience, it is recommended to do physical training three months before the trip; jogging 5-10 kilometers, three times a week or riding, increase cardiorespiratory fitness, better enjoy the beautiful scenery of nature in the outdoor sports.
