Some members of our recent trek on the classic TMB Tour du Mont Blanc were astonished to find out they had walked a total of 187 kilometers, while the legendary route is known to be 168 kilometers. They spent the same amount of time and registration fee but experienced more scenery than others. How did they manage to do that?
The Tour du Mont Blanc hiking route is rated as one of the 20 Dream Trails worldwide. The entire route is approximately 170 kilometers long, with an elevation gain and loss of 10,000 meters.
Our team members, however, covered nearly 190 km, which can be considered a great bonus!
Why Did This Happen?
It turns out that our team members made thorough preparations before embarking on the TMB tour. They trained their bodies regularly in advance, building strength and stamina, and prepared their hiking gear meticulously. When the actual hike began, the French guide increased the difficulty level for them, taking them on unplanned routes, which was a delightful surprise!
During the hike, the weather and scenery change drastically with the elevation, making each day on Mont Blanc unique and full of different beauty. Each person's experience is different.
Having ample physical strength and a healthy body allows you to enjoy the breathtaking scenery, delicious food, and all the wonderful moments along the TMB more freely, while also reducing the burden on our guides and fellow hikers.
Training Recommendations for Tour du Mont Blanc
To enhance your TMB hiking experience, it is recommended to start physical training two to three months before the trip. This could include jogging 5-10 km or cycling three times a week, as well as short hikes or swimming to boost your physical fitness and cardiovascular function. This will help you better enjoy the natural beauty during the outdoor hike.
All our guides for the TMB hike are qualified with French national mountain hiking guide credentials, EU international guide credentials, and French national alpine guide credentials.
In the mountains, it is the experienced guides' domain. Each guide has their own exclusive routes. As long as you can keep up physically, guides can "go the extra mile," adding difficulty appropriately to show you more hidden scenery.
