In this post, I will reveal more secrets that are not generally known. Let's delve deeper and discover those hidden mysteries on the Tour du Mont Blanc trekking path.




Basic information about the Tour du Mont Blanc

You probably already know some information about the Tour du Mont Blanc trek (TMB), but before we reveal our top Tour du Blanc secrets, here's some basic information you need to know before you go on the trek:



- The TMB Tour du Mont Blanc is a hut-to-hut multi-day trek in the Alps!

- The classic TMB route circles the slopes opposite Mont Blanc.

- It crosses three countries (France, Italy and Switzerland).

- The classic route is over 160 kilometers long and has a cumulative climb of about 10,000 meters.

- It usually takes 7-10 days to complete the classic TMB trek.



- The trek has many "offshoots" that make the route more difficult or easier, longer or shorter.

- The TMB Tour du Mont Blanc is considered to be a "challenging" trek.

- The trails cross high mountain valleys and are rugged and winding.

- The highest point of the TMB is at 2665 meters, so there is no high altitude sickness.

Sunset Valley

Where is the location:

Arrive at the Bonati Hut and then hike up the slope for about 1km, ascending 200 meters. You can private message altitude trekker expeditions to give you a private guide.



On the trail behind the mountain house is a hidden valley that is rarely, if ever, visited by other Tour du Mont Blanc hikers. There are a few farmhouses and pastures scattered around this area, and a small church on the rocks. The valley is quite narrow and the sound travels a bit strange!



Why it's recommended:

The TMB Tour du Mont Blanc route can get crowded, especially in August, this route is quiet all summer long and allows you to fully enjoy nature and tranquility. It's the perfect, little-known place to quietly watch the sun set.




Black Vanilla Orchid

Where is the location:

As you walk through Grand Col Ferret, you can occasionally see some deep red flowers.



Why it's recommended:

This is the rare Alpine plant wild phalaenopsis, which often grows in alpine meadows and around mountain passes. As its name suggests, the black vanilla phalaenopsis has a delicious vanilla-like aroma and is often cultivated by industrial plantations to make vanilla perfumes and lotions. But please don't pick these flowers in the wild, they are protected plants in the wild. These flowers are TMB's little secret and you may easily overlook them, but its unique aroma is very pleasant.




Hidden WW2 Bunker

Where is the location:

Check out the Swiss section of the TMB to see if you can find the World War II bunker.



Why it's recommended:

This was built just as World War II was about to break out, when tensions began to escalate in Europe. The bunker is nicely disguised as a family-occupied cabin next to a large rock just below the borderline between Koldufukla and France-Switzerland. Be sure to take a close look at the large rock below the cabin ...... but we won't spoil the surprise for you!



How about a visit:

You can visit this bunker for free, it follows the topography of the Alps and played an important role in the war and is very interesting.




Botanical Garden

植物园


Where is the location:

On the Swiss section of the TMB, in case you have some free time on Lake Champlain. This garden is right on the edge of town and easily accessible.



Why it's recommended:

The botanical gardens at Champet have a huge range of alpine flowers and are a very special place to relax. The staff here are very welcoming and knowledgeable; a must-see if you are interested in alpine flowers.



How about a visit:

The Shompay Botanical Gardens has a very inexpensive admission price and is also a great place to relax and unwind. If you are interested in plant sense flowers or just love beautiful gardens, this is a must visit place. It's also a secret because most hikers choose to relax or eat ice cream by Lake Champai during this time of year. But they don't realize...they can actually visit both.
